oranger - new comes and goes

"new comes and goes" from oranger is a solid record. the track radiowave and another cut from the album had been going around a little while back, but you should definitely look a little deeper into this record. the music is fairly typical indie power pop similar to imperial teen or dandy warhols, but on this track in particular the rhythems of the vocal delivery take on a bit of that shins quality.

oranger will be in LA next month - they've got an in-store booked at amoeba, and a gig at the echo with the warlocks.

Fri, January 20 @ the echo (or at amoeba @ 7pm)

Thunderbirds Are Now! - 198090

i picked this record off the shelf on more than one occasion this year strictly on the strength of the cover art, but with an album name like justamustache, i assumed it would be more gimmick that chops. that was probably the wrong assessment. i'm disappointed i waited so long to give it a listen. you can knock the album for being formulaic from track to track, but it's a good formula (Q and not U use more or less the same one). insound recently listed justamustache in their top 10 albums of the year, right ahead of jens lekmans 'your so silent, jens'. there's more than a couple tracks worth hearing, which you can check out on the bands website

oh, and when your band is called thunderbirds are now! where else could you be from BUT detroit?
