it's recently been reported that Grandaddy will hang up their robots and that forthcoming release Just Like The Fambly Cat will be the bands last.
that's too bad for sure. the software slump was easily the bands crowning achievement, though i recall thinking highly of concrete dunes . the track above is from 98's Under The Western Free Way - also good stuff. the breezy-cold nor cal group leave behind a wife and 3 children, a dog "Joe", a converted garage that serves as a rest home for their convalescent home made robots, a sentient dishwasher, 4 office pals from sales, and a volkswagen peoplemover they meant to fix up all these years.
i call dibs on that box of vhs tapes of stephen j. cannell TV shows.
